What is your Money Belief?

A few months ago, I attended an online course from "She is Wealthy" with Megan Unsworth and part of the message spoke to my soul and I haven't shaken it yet. So I wanted to take a moment to talk with you about you and your money belief. And yes, there will be a lot of questions and things for you to really think about... What are you even talking about, Amber? I'm talking about where your money identity comes from. The way you think, feel, or even treat money. Do you treat money as a tool to live your best life? Or do you feel like money runs you? Where did your money story come from? Your family, your environment, yourself?

The way we look at money is not taught. It's a learned behavior. We grow up watching our parents, and they grew up watching theirs. Teaching us about money wasn't a priority, and we learned by behavior and watching. It's a generational wave that continues from generation to generation until we decide we are going to break that cycle. I certainly don't want my kids to start where B and I started, we want to be their ground floor of moving up and over our obstacles. I think every parent would want that for their children.

What if we could start to change our mindset when it comes to our money story? What if we could change our "Stinkin' Thinkin'" to a mindset of abundance. To change our "never enough" to "we have enough"?

We are going through a cycle that seems to hit us every 5 - 7 years. If you know me at all, I am always keen on transparency. I was laid off a few months ago, and finding a new job hasn't been easy. I have found myself slipping into the mindset of speaking out "We can't afford that" or "I will never make what I am worth" or even "Why should I keep pursuing this dream of financial coaching? I haven't made a cent and my family depends on me."

It's so easy to fall back into the crazy because it's the money story that has been engrained in my brain.

There are three ways that we can use to cancel this mindset. What do you want? Like what do you really want? Do you want to make just that extra $500 a month? Or maybe you need to replace an income that has been lost. Do you want that vacation? Paying Christmas with cash only and no credit cards involved? What don't you have it? Why don't you have that $500 a month that you so desperately need or want? Do you have a side job that gives you potential to make that income back? Have you stopped because your own doubts and unbelief are keeping you from moving forward? Are there ways for you to set money aside for that vacation or to pay for Christmas but you just can't get your follow through in action? "I can't do that side gig. I will never make money." "I can't fully replace my income by sharing simple products." "I can't save money. It's impossible to make ends meet, let alone save anything." "I can't pay for Christmas. I can't pay for groceries." CANCEL those can't and replace them with I AM statements. "I AM capable of making money." "I AM able to provide for my family by simply being my authentic self." "I AM able to save money by making just a few adjustments in my spending every month."

"I AM able to set up a Christmas account and save every paycheck."

This part of the presentation was so powerful to me. As I have found myself sinking back into the crazy of a scarcity mindset, I've had to remind myself that I am a daughter of the I AM THAT I AM. And because of that I AM able.

What is your money mindset? Are you ready to make that transition in your mind? To change the way you think about money?

Let's do it together.
